Lesson Plans

After the normal SSR and Pot Notes, Mrs. Sutusky introduced lesson plans. She started off the lesson by asking us the importance of lesson plans. Some people agreed that lesson plans were important when some agreed that they were pointless and a waste of paper. Sutusky informed us that she thinks lesson plans are extremely important because it gives her the opportunity to reflect on what worked and what didn't work. Mrs. Sutusky modeled her personal lesson plans alogn with modeling our lesson plan format. I didn't realize how much went into actually planning a lesson. A teacher has to have an objective, the standards they are addressing, assessment....everything on a lesson plan! Our assignment for this lesson is to - well create our own lesson plan. Not just one, but two lesson plans. We get to create/present one lesson plan on whatever we want. Mrs. Sutusky said presenting something we know well will help get rid of the jitters before we head into our placement. Our second lesson plans has to be created around our placement. I am going to teach the class how to hit and serve a tennis ball for my personal lesson plan, and I will be creating a third grade lesson plan for my placement centered plan.
