Today has been the day we have all been waiting for: disability day! We explored the different types of learning disabilities by trying to simulate each individual disability. The stations ranged from a pair of headphones with static flowing through them so loud that we couldn't hear our partner talk. The point of that station was to represent a student with a hearing impairment. In another station, we had to travel through the building in a wheelchair and on crutches and try to open a door, while still in the wheelchair. After we completed each station, we had to write down how we felt. We are going to compare notes and discuss with the class on Monday. This whole experience was an eye opener to the world of disability. This activity made me a lot more thankful for the life I have today!
